Think before you toss and recycle your old cell phone, lap top or T.V. Did you know, the world produces around 50 million metric tons of electronic waste each year? Unfortunately, only about 20% of discarded electronics are formally recycled.
Think before you toss and recycle your old cell phone, lap top or T.V. Did you know, the world produces around 50 million metric tons of electronic waste each year? Unfortunately, only about 20% of discarded electronics are formally recycled.
Schenectady County is hosting a FREE e-waste recycling event to make it easier for residents to dispose and recycle their unwanted, unused, or broken cellphones, computers, and electronic devices. All you need to do is sign up for an appointment and bring your e-waste to a Schenectady County e-waste event location. When you drop off your e-waste, a certified electronics recycler will keep your old devices out of a landfill.
E-Waste recycling is good for the economy and the environment! Making new products from recycled e-waste saves energy and water, decreases greenhouse gas emissions, all while reducing the negative impacts of mining for new raw materials like lithium, copper, nickel, aluminum, platinum, zinc, cobalt, and even gold and silver.
