The County Legislature determines all policy for the County and adopts and enacts resolutions and local laws necessary for the operation of County Government.
The County Legislature holds a bi-annual organizational meeting where they elect a Chair and Vice-Chair from their membership. The Chair of the Legislature is the chief elected official for the County.
Arts & Culture Grant
The Schenectady County Legislature dedicates funds from the County's Hotel/Motel Bed Tax to support arts & culture activities presented by local organizations. The Schenectady County Legislature's Arts & Culture Grant supports events ranging from larger summer concert series, festivals, and cultural celebrations to smaller neighborhood events, exhibits, workshops, and educational programs.
