Emergency Assistance to Adults

Emergency Assistance to Adults (EAA) is available to individuals who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and are facing emergencies that endanger their health, safety, or welfare.

Resources Available under the Emergency Assistance for Adults include: Benefits are Subject to Eligibility Criteria

  • Financial help to prevent an eviction
  • Moving and storage assistance
  • Security Deposit
  • Furniture
  • Emergency shelter allowance is available to adults who have AIDS or have tested positive for HIV and have an HIV-related illness.

Emergency Assistance to Families (EAF)

Emergency Assistance to Families is a federally participating program that helps meet the needs of families dealing with crises and emergencies beyond their control. Such needs include financial help with eviction, homelessness, heating fuel, utility disconnects, domestic violence, and child care (daycare or temporary foster care). 

Who is eligible to receive Emergency Assistance to Families?  (EAF)

To be eligible for Emergency Assistance to Families, whether as part of an ongoing public assistance case or for one-time-only assistance, the following criteria must be met:

  • The child is without resources that are immediately accessible to meet their needs.
  • A family must have a child under age 18, or a child under age 19 who regularly attends secondary school.
  • The child receiving EAF must live with an eligible relative.
  • Women who have been medically verified as pregnant, but who have no other children, may recieve EAF if they are otherwise eligible for public assistance.
  • Undocumented non-citizens who meet specific requirements based on categories and programs.
