E-Waste Recycling

photos of old mother boards, wires, and discarded electronicsWe live in an increasingly connected world driven by technology. Rapid changes and improvements in electronic devices increase e-waste as older devices are thrown away. When you recycle your old electronic devices you save space in local landfills and reduce environmental pollution by potentially harmful toxins. Recycling old electronic devices is also good for the economy. Making products from recycled materials saves energy and water, decreases greenhouse gas emissions, all while reducing the negative impacts of mining precious metals and other raw materials.

The Schenectady County Compost & Resident Recycling Facility is an official drop-off location and member of the eWASTE Alliance Partnership Alliance. All items collected are recycled in accordance with the New York State Electronic Equipment Recycling and Reuse Act.
