Youth Employment

The Schenectady County Summer Youth Employment Program is a unique opportunity to gain six weeks of meaningful, on-the-job training during the summer. Youth selected for the program will be permitted to work for 20 hours per week earning minimum wage through Schenectady County Connects (Job Training Agency-SJTA). 

 

Who is Eligible? 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a resident of Schenectady County.
  • Must be between the ages of 14 and 24 at the start of the program.

Most of the funding is for youth from families that get TANF (public assistance), SNAP, or have a household income that is no more than twice the federal poverty level.

How To Apply

  • Complete the application in pen and attach all required documents.
  • Review your application, and make sure your application is complete and accurate. 
  • Submit your completed application and all required documents. All required documents are listed on the application.

Schenectady County Connects offers year-round youth employment opportunities to eligible youth 14-24 whose family receives TANF (public assistance), SNAP, or total household income does not exceed 200% of the federal poverty line.
