The Schenectady County Veterans Agency is here to serve you. We will advise you on all of the benefits available to you, based upon your service. We will also assist you in applying for those benefits and in responding to all queries regarding your applications until the process is complete.  It is our sincere desire to safeguard the rights and benefits that you all have so nobly earned.

All you need to do is call us for an appointment and we will establish a personal, confidential file for you.

Our Veteran Service Department will help you navigate the Department of Veterans Affairs, and our services are free. We will advise you on all of the benefits available to you, based upon your service. We will also assist you in applying for those benefits and in responding to all queries regarding your applications until the process is complete.  It is our sincere desire to safeguard the rights and benefits that you all have so nobly earned. We will help with gathering the information necessary to support a claim, file the claim, and track the claim through the VA system. We can also assist with filing appeals for denied claims. Our expertise can help you avoid the pitfalls and delays that missing paperwork or improperly filled out claim forms can cause.

Honor a Veteran Program

The Schenectady County Council of Veterans Service organizations is proud to present the Schenectady County Honor-A-Veteran Program which will, on a quarterly basis, honor individual veterans who were either born in or currently reside in Schenectady County.

Guidelines:

  • The Veteran must have been discharged under conditions other than dishonorable from the United State Armed Forces.
  • The Veteran should have personal ties to Schenectady, e.g. born in the County or resided in the County in later years.
  • A nomination application must be submitted with a copy of the veteran's discharge, report of separation, DD-214, or report of casualty (in the case of the veteran dying while on duty) and a copy of the veteran's obituary, if applicable.
  • A veteran may only be honored once.
