Welcome to Schenectady County’s Foster Care Program, where every child deserves a chance for a brighter tomorrow. Our community is seeking compassionate individuals and families ready to open their hearts and homes to children in need, especially older youth who thrive with the stability and love of a nurturing environment. Here, you’ll find all the resources and support needed to embark on a profoundly rewarding journey as a foster parent. Discover how you can make a lasting difference in a child’s life and enrich your own through the gift of fostering. Join us in shaping futures and changing lives—one child at a time.
Schenectady County supports residents interested in becoming foster parents through the process.
After you attend a Foster Care Information Session and apply to be a foster parent, you must sign up, attend, and complete a series of required trainings.
