Vaccines Available During Greenmarket Hours at Library

Schenectady County is partnering with the Schenectady Greenmarket to hold a COVID-19 vaccine POD during market hours outside of the Karen B. Johnson (Central) Library, located at the corner of Clinton and Liberty streets. To allow more space for social distancing during the pandemic, the Greenmarket expanded onto Clinton Street when it reopened around City Hall last year and again earlier this month.

The County is focused on increasing accessibility to COVID-19 vaccines for all residents. According to the NYS COVID-19 Vaccine Tracker website over 53 percent (53.5%1) of Schenectady County residents have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, which is the fourth highest percentage in the state.

“Schenectady County is partnering with the Schenectady Greenmarket to offer a vaccine POD that is easily accessible during market hours,” said Schenectady County Legislator Sara Mae Pratt, Vice Chair of the Committee on Health and Human Services. “Community members can shop for fresh, local food and goods, and then walk across Liberty Street to receive a COVID-19 vaccine from our highly skilled public health staff and volunteers.”

“Schenectady Greenmarket is proud to partner with Schenectady County to provide customers and residents with a vaccine site at the nearby library on Sundays during market hours,” said Haley Viccaro, Schenectady Greenmarket Board Chair. “Our collaboration with the County advances our goal to provide access to fresh, local food and also help to ensure the health and safety of our customers during the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope everyone takes advantage of this great opportunity and encourage individuals and families to shop local and get vaccinated.”
