We are aware that a New York Post website includes an article indicating that Governor Hochul and New York City Mayor Adams have reached an agreement to send additional asylum seekers upstate. The article incorrectly indicated that additional asylum-seekers would be sent to Schenectady County.
Schenectady County is experiencing a housing crisis and cannot accommodate any additional asylum-seekers. We have not agreed to have any additional asylum-seekers in Schenectady County and have been assured there is no intent to send additional asylum-seekers to Schenectady County.
