Schenectady County residents are encouraged to take part in the 2024 Capital Region Community Health Survey, now open until December 8, 2024. The seven-minute survey aims to gather valuable feedback on the health needs, challenges, and priorities facing our local community, which will directly shape Schenectady County's Community Health Improvement Plan for the next six years.

The survey, available to all Schenectady County residents, is part of a broader regional effort to assess healthcare needs across the Capital Region. Local results will inform Schenectady County Public Health Services' decisions on how to best allocate resources, develop programs, and improve services for County residents.

"The Community Health Survey is a critical tool for understanding the healthcare challenges facing Schenectady County residents," said Schenectady County Legislator Omar McGill, Vice-Chair of the Health, Housing, and Human Services Committee. "By filling it out, everyone can share their thoughts, helping make sure our public health programs meet the real needs of the community."

Community input is vital in identifying key health issues, barriers to healthcare access, and the specific needs of our community. Topics covered by the survey include:

  • Access to healthcare services
  • Health and social needs
  • Mental health and child health
  • Impact of chronic health conditions
  • Barriers to care and healthcare accessibility
