Schenectady County Offers Free School-Related COVID-19 Testing

Over 130 Tests Conducted on First Day

Schenectady County is partnering with Ellis Medicine to offer free COVID-19 testing for Schenectady County students, their families and school employees at Ellis Medicine’s McClellan Street Health Center. The clinic is run by Schenectady County Public Health Services (SCPHS) and appointments are available at www.schenectadycounty.com/COVID19, under School-Related COVID-19 Testing.

School districts have been provided with guidance from SCPHS allowing them to use several strategies that rely on testing to reduce the time students and staff are out of school. It is up to each district to determine whether to employ these strategies. Parents and guardians should contact the school district for their specific COVID-19 protocols.

“Students have already missed a lot of classroom time due to the pandemic,” said Schenectady County Legislator Michelle Ostrelich, Chair of the Health & Human Services Committee. “The new guidance available to school districts and our free testing clinic will allow students to return to school as quickly and safely as possible after a potential exposure.”

Location: Ellis Medicine McClellan Street Health Center

                 600 McClellan Street, Schenectady 12304

Dates: Monday – Friday (closed on County holidays)

Times: 9am to 2pm

The test site officially opened on January 4, 2022. Over 130 tests were conducted on the first day it was open.
