Schenectady County to Offer In-Person Vaccine Appointment Assistance

Schenectady County will offer in-person assistance to residents who need help scheduling a COVID-19 vaccine. Currently individuals who live in zip codes 12304, 12305, 12307 and 12308, and are eligible to receive a vaccine, can sign up for an appointment at the Washington Avenue Armory in Albany. Appointments at the Albany Armory will be open to all residents of Schenectady, Albany and Rensselaer counties after appointments have been open for one week.

While appointments are not guaranteed, county library staff will help residents navigate various vaccine sites at workstations in the McChesney Room, at the Hon. Karen B. Johnson (Central) library branch, located at 99 Clinton Street in Schenectady. COVID-19 protocols, including mask-wearing and social distancing, will be enforced.

“Searching for a COVID-19 vaccine appointment can be a daunting task, especially for people who don’t have reliable internet access,” said Philip Fields, Deputy Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature. “Until Schenectady County receives an increased allotment of vaccine doses and can accommodate more residents closer to home, we will work with our community to find appointments for individuals wherever they are available, and able to travel to.”

Assistance will be available starting tomorrow, February 26, 2021 at the Hon. Karen B. Johnson (Central) Branch library. Regular hours of operation will be Monday – Friday from 10am to 4pm and on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm. Appointments are not available or required. In the event an individual is not able to schedule a vaccine appointment, they will have the option to pre-register with the county.
