Schenectady County Legislature Celebrates National Library Week

Schenectady County Legislator Sara Mae Pratt

Legislators Record Virtual Story Time Videos

The Schenectady County Legislature is celebrating National Library Week (NLW), which is April 3 – 10, by releasing new virtual story time videos for kids and families to enjoy throughout the week. A new video, featuring a story read by a County Legislator, will be released daily starting today, April 4, through Saturday, April 9 on the Schenectady County Public Library’s (SCPL) YouTube channel, https://bit.ly/SCPL_YOUTUBE.

According to the American Library Association, this year’s NLW theme is “Connect with Your Library,” which promotes the idea that libraries are places to get connected to technology by using broadband, computers, and other resources. Libraries also offer opportunities to connect with media, programs, ideas, and classes – in addition to books.

“Libraries have become so much more than books – they are a place for the community to learn, grow, and connect,” said Schenectady County Legislator Sara Mae Pratt, Chair of the Education & Libraries Committee. “Recording these stories for National Library Week was such a fun project. We hope that these videos help highlight some of the different resources available to kids and families. All you need is a library card to access everything from print and digital materials to adult and youth programing, and other virtual resources at our 9 branches. If you haven’t visited our libraries lately, we invite you to come back and discover all they have to offer.”

Schedule

New videos will be available on SCPL’s YouTube channel, https://bit.ly/SCPL_YOUTUBE, at approximately 10am each day. They will also be shared on the County’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/SchenectadyCounty) and SCPL’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/SCPLNY).
