Schenectady County Legislature Announces County Initiative Program Grant Recipients

Schenectady County Initiative Program

36 Organizations Will Receive Awards Totaling $60,000

The Schenectady County Legislature today announced 36 organizations will receive a total of $60,000 in funding through this year’s County Initiative Program (CIP) grants.

These grants, which are funded through the County’s hotel and motel occupancy tax, were instituted to help support local organizations whose activities promote tourism in the County, such as performance arts, visual and literary arts, and historic preservation, among others.

“The County Legislature is proud to support local organizations whose events and programming enrich the lives of our families and residents,” said Anthony Jasenski, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature. “Investing in the arts can help spark creativity, imagination, and innovation, and help make our community an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.”

This year’s projects include programs and events such as Juneteenth: A Celebration of Freedom, Schenectady Caribbean Day, Kids Arts Festival, Schenectady Greenmarket Music Stage, Niska-Day, Duanesburg Missoula Summer Theater Program and Performances, Shakespeare in the Park, Downtown Schenectady Fall Spooktacular, and National Night Out in Rotterdam. For a full list of recipients, visit the CIP webpage.

“Schenectady County is a destination for arts and entertainment in the Capital Region and beyond,” said Schenectady County Legislator Rich Patierne, Vice-Chair of the Tourism, Arts & Special Events Committee. “These grants help to support events and programs that our residents and families look forward to each year. They also help bring visitors to Schenectady County, which increase our hotel and motel bed tax earnings, allowing us to support more organizations in the future.”
