Schenectady County Launches New COVID-19 Vaccine Website

Schenectady County launched a new website, www.schenectadycounty.com/vaccine, to keep residents up-to-date on the County’s vaccine program, which is run in accordance with NYS Department of Health and CDC guidelines.

The new website includes information about vaccines currently approved for use in the US, information about New York State’s Vaccination Program, including eligibility phases, frequently asked questions and links to additional information.

“While we understand that people are anxious to get the COVID vaccine, supply is limited,” said Schenectady County Manager Rory Fluman. “Schenectady County Public Health Services has systematically administered all of the doses we’ve received to the ‘1A group’ over the past couple of weeks. We hope that our allocation of the vaccine from the state will increase in the near future, allowing us to expand our efforts beyond that group. Until then, we encourage individuals 75 and over in the 1B category to pre-register for vaccination appointments on our vaccine website, schenectadycounty.com/vaccine, and we encourage all others to keep an eye on that site for information and updates.”

Schenectady County Public Health Services (SCPHS) began vaccinating eligible individuals in Phase 1A on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 with the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, and as of Friday, January 8, 2021 has administered a total of 545 vaccine doses.

Due to limited vaccine supply, SCPHS is currently only scheduling appointments for individuals who are eligible under Phase 1A, and pre-registering individuals who fall under Phase 1B that are 75 years of age or older ONLY. Information on how to request an appointment and how to pre-register under 1B (75 years and older) is available on the new website.

Vaccine appointments for Phase 1B-eligible individuals may be available at other local providers as more vaccines become available.

Anyone who still has questions after reviewing all the information on the site can contact the SC vaccine program via the website.
