Schenectady County Public Health Services (SCPHS) is hosting a free naloxone training and information session for community members on Thursday, November 21, 2024 in Schenectady.

SCPHS is hosting a series of in-person trainings and information sessions throughout 2024 to empower community members with the knowledge and skills to address opioid overdose effectively. These sessions provide valuable education on recognizing the signs of overdose, preventative measures, and the administration of Naloxone, equipping attendees with life-saving techniques and access to essential resources in combating opioid-related emergencies. Participants will receive a free naloxone kit and fentanyl/xylazine test strips upon completion of the training.

“These free trainings give our community the tools and confidence to prevent overdose deaths and respond in emergencies,” said Schenectady County Legislator Michelle Ostrelich, Chair of the Health, Housing & Human Services Committee. “By joining, participants gain life-saving skills and resources that empower them to make a real difference in building a safer, healthier community.”
