Schenectady County will host an informational open house on Monday, August 21, 2023 for residents who would like to learn more about becoming a foster or adoptive parent.
Current foster parents will be available during the open house to speak to residents interested in the program. Staff from the Office of Children and Family Services will also be available to answer any questions residents might have.
“Adoption and fostering can seem like an overwhelming process, but our team is here to help you every step of the way,” said Schenectady County Legislator Michelle Ostrelich, Chair of the Health, Housing & Human Services Committee. “This informational meeting is an easy way for you to meet our staff, learn about the resources available to you, ask any questions you have, and speak with current foster parents about their personal experiences.”
Date: Monday, August 21, 2023
Time: 5:30-6:30pm
Location: 388 Broadway, Schenectady 12305
Some of the topics that will be covered during the informational meeting are the process of becoming a foster or adoptive parent, required training, and resources available – including financial and other support.
