Schenectady County to Hold Informational Meeting for Prospective Foster and Adoptive Parents

Schenectady County Seal

Schenectady County will host an informational open house on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 for residents who would like to learn more about becoming a foster or adoptive parent.

Current foster parents will be available during the open house to speak to residents interested in the program. Staff from the Office of Children and Family Services will also be available to answer any questions residents might have.

“The adoption and fostering process can seem overwhelming to prospective parents, but it’s very rewarding and the county’s foster care and adoption team is there to help navigate the system” said Schenectady County Legislator Michelle Ostrelich, Chair of the Health, Housing & Human Services Committee. “This informational meeting provides a unique opportunity for residents to connect with current foster parents, learn from their experiences and ask any questions they may have.”

Date: Wednesday, August 10, 2022

Time: 5:30-7:30pm

Location: 388 Broadway, Schenectady 12305

Some of the topics that will be covered during the informational meeting are the process of becoming a foster or adoptive parent, required training, and resources available – including financial and other support.
