Schenectady County Seal

Schenectady County will host an informational open house on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 for residents who would like to learn more about becoming a foster or adoptive parent.

Current foster parents will be available during the open house to speak to residents interested in the program. Staff from the Office of Children and Family Services will also be available to answer any questions residents might have.

“We’re always looking for people who are willing to open their homes to children in need, but we know the adoption and fostering process can seem overwhelming to prospective parents,” said Schenectady County Legislator Michelle Ostrelich, Chair of the Health & Human Services Committee. “This informational meeting is a great resource for anyone who has thought about fostering or adopting a child but hasn’t taken the first step yet.”

Date: Wednesday, December 8, 2021

Time: 5:30-7:30pm

Location: 388 Broadway, Schenectady 12305

Some of the topics that will be covered during the informational meeting are the process of becoming a foster or adoptive parent, required training, and resources available – including financial and other support.
