Earlier today, Schenectady County’s Hazmat Team concluded hazmat response operations stemming from an accident on I-88 that occurred early in the morning on December 5.
The Hazmat Team was activated on Tuesday to respond to the incident due to the presence of compressed natural gas containers. During the response they worked diligently with state and local agencies to handle and minimize any hazmat-related concerns, including the management of off-gassing the tanks, while taking all the necessary steps to ensure the safety of the affected area.
“Our county Hazmat Team was formed to meet the unique needs of our community, providing essential skills and resources to swiftly respond to incidents when community safety is at risk,” said Anthony Jasenski, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature. “We extend our gratitude to our Hazmat Team, our state and local partners, and our first responders for their skillful response and unwavering commitment to our community’s well-being. Their dedication and invaluable contributions to ensuring the safety of our community are truly appreciated.”
