Schenectady County Announces Youth Sports Funding Deadline Approaching

Youth Baseball Field

Over $130,000 Available for Local Community-Based Organizations and Nonprofits

Schenectady County is taking applications for two funding opportunities administered by the county’s Youth Bureau through the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. Youth Sports Education Funding and Youth Team Sports Funding is available to local community-based organizations and nonprofits that support youth team sports and youth sports education programs for underserved youth under the age of 18.

“We encourage our local sports organizations to apply for these grants, which can help provide funding for equipment and uniforms, or facility and field improvements,” said Gary Hughes, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature. “Investing in youth sports not only promotes physical well-being but also cultivates essential life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance, ensuring a brighter future for our young athletes and a healthier, more vibrant community.”

Additional information about the grants, including the OCFS-5011 application form, is available at https://ocfs.ny.gov/programs/youth/sports.php. Applications and required supporting documentation should be emailed to bailey.gardiner@dfa.state.ny.us by Friday, January 12, 2024.
