Schenectady County announced that FreshConnect coupon booklets are now available for veterans and their families through a collaboration with the New York State Department of Agriculture and the New York State Department of Veterans’ Services.

FreshConnect checks are available through the Schenectady County Veterans Service Agency to Active Duty members, Veterans and their immediate family members, as well as un-remarried surviving spouses of Veterans.[1] FreshConnect coupons can be used for fresh produce and other food items at participating farmers markets throughout New York State.

“We are proud to offer FreshConnect coupon booklets to our veterans and their families in collaboration with the New York State Department of Agriculture and the New York State Department of Veterans’ Services,’ said Schenectady County Legislator Holly Vellano, Chair of the Military Affairs & Veterans Committee. “These coupons can be used for fresh produce and other food items at participating farmers markets. We encourage eligible residents to contact the Schenectady County Veterans Service Agency to request a booklet and take advantage of this valuable benefit.”

Veterans Division: Schenectady County Holiday Parade

Last year, Schenectady County proudly introduced a new addition to the Annual Holiday Parade: the Veterans Division, dedicated to honoring our military servicemen and women. Positioned with distinction behind the 2023 Grand Marshal, the 109th Airlift Wing, this division provided a platform to recognize the contributions of our veterans. Once again, veterans from across the Capital Region are invited to participate in the Veterans Division for the upcoming 2024 parade, with the flexibility to either walk or ride along the parade route.
