Schenectady County Run the Runway

Schenectady County is hosting a free community fun day with the Empire State Aerosciences Museum (ESAM) in partnership with the 109th Airlift Wing after the County’s Run the Runway 5K race. The event will feature music, food, bounce house and obstacle course, Safe Child ID sign-up and a K-9 demonstration from the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office, free entry into ESAM, and activities with the 109th.

Date: Saturday, October 7, 2023

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Run the Runway

Schenectady County is kicking off the day’s events with a 5K race at 9:00 a.m. and a one-mile fun run for kids starting at approximately 10:00 a.m. All sections of the run will be on taxiways and runways that have been resurfaced in the last three years. The course has only approximately 60 vertical feet of total grade change and plenty of space, with the taxiways and runways ranging from 75-150 feet wide. Active military, retirees and veterans will receive a discount on their registration fee. Children 12 years and younger may participate in the fun run for FREE.
