The Schenectady County Legislature announced the kick-off event for the County’s 2025 event season will be the Pedal-Paddle-Run, scheduled to take place at Aqueduct Park in Niskayuna on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. This is the first of many Schenectady County Special Events to be announced for the upcoming year.
“Pedal-Paddle-Run is the perfect way to kick off our event season, giving participants a chance to experience the natural beauty of Schenectady County in a fun and active way,” said Schenectady County Legislator Cathy Gatta, Chair of the Tourism, Arts and Special Events Committee. “Whether you’re racing solo or with a team, this unique event is a great opportunity to get outside, enjoy the Mohawk River, and take in the scenic trails that make our community such a special place.”
The “Not Your Typical Triathlon” Pedal-Paddle-Run is a timed event that includes approximately 7 miles of biking, approximately 2 miles of kayaking/canoeing and a 5k run. Participants must be 16 years of age or older and may compete as individuals or as part of a relay team.
To make the race more accessible, Schenectady County partners with local businesses to offer rental kayaks during the registration process on a first-come, first-served basis. More race information, including a list of local businesses who rent kayaks, course maps, rules and fees, and a link to register online are available at https://www.schenectadycountyny.gov/special-events/ppr. Early registration is $40 per participant until April 30, 2025, after that the price will increase to $45. All finishers will receive a medal.
