The County and City of Schenectady plan to apply for the 2024 JAG Edward Byrne Grant Local Solicitation opportunity. The award amount available this year for the disparate jurisdiction is $35,711, and it covers a four year period from 2023-2027. The two entities will share the award to assist law enforcement to keep the community safe and to solve crimes. The funding would be used for Schenectady Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit's evidence collection at a cellular level via equipment, and to support a portion of the salary of the District Attorney's Office Confidential Investigator assigned to the FBI-led Safe Streets Task Force.
