Guilty Plea by Anthony LeBrecht

District Attorney

On February 15, 2022, Anthony LeBrecht (DOB: 8/31/1987), pled guilty to one count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a Class D Violent Felony and one count of Failure to Register or Verify a Change of Address as a Sex Offender, a Class E Felony.  Mr. LeBrecht pled guilty to subjecting a female child less than thirteen [13] years old to sexual contact.  The sexual contact occurred on or about May 16, 2021, at a residence in the City and County of Schenectady, New York.  LeBrecht, a Level 3 Sex Offender, has a duty to register and verify his address with the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services.  However, the Schenectady Police Department discovered through their investigation into the sexual assault that LeBrecht was no longer living at his registered address, and that he failed to notify the Department of Criminal Justice Services of such.

LeBrecht is to receive a determinate sentence of five [5] years state incarceration on the plea to Sexual Abuse in the First Degree.  He will receive a sentence of one and a half [1.5] to three [3] years state incarceration on the conviction of Failure to Register.  The two sentences will be served concurrently.  After his release from prison, LeBrecht will serve fifteen [15] years of parole.  Judge Sypniewski will issue a full order of protection for the child victim for twenty-eight [28] years, the maximum period of time permitted by law, when LeBrecht is sentenced.  LeBrecht will remain designated as a Level 3 Sex Offender after his release, and for the remainder of his life.

The investigation that led to LeBrecht’s arrest began in November of 2021, when the victim courageously disclosed to a close friend that LeBrecht had abused her sexually.  The investigation was conducted in concert by the Schenectady City Police Department and the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.  Schenectady’s investigation was led by detectives Aaron Zampella, Pete Verret, and Derek Sherman of the Youth Aid Bureau for the police department.  The Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office was able to secure these pleas shortly after LeBrecht’s arrest on a Superior Court Information, following LeBrecht’s decision to waive indictment by Grand Jury.

The People were represented by Assistant District Attorney Daniel P. Lennon and Special Victims Unit Bureau Chief ADA John J. Carson.  LeBrecht was represented by Attorney John Della Ratta.  Schenectady County Court Judge Matthew J. Sypniewski presided over the matter.  LeBrecht is scheduled to be sentenced on April 13, 2022, at 1:30PM in Schenectady County Court.  For further information, contact Assistant District Attorney Daniel Lennon at (518) 645-4427.
