Anthony Romero, 24, of Schenectady, New York, was arraigned today in Schenectady County Court on an indictment charging him with Murder in the Second Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, and Tampering with Physical Evidence. The indictment was brought following a Schenectady County Grand Jury investigation into a May 30, 2022, shooting on Hulett Street in the City of Schenectady which caused the death of Treavine Tate on Mr. Tate’s 21st Birthday. Romero appeared before the Honorable Matthew J. Sypniewski and entered pleas of not guilty to all four counts of the Indictment and was remanded without bail.
An indictment of course is just an accusatory instrument. Mr. Romero is presumed innocent until such time as he may be proven guilty in a court of law. He is entitled to all the rights of any accused person including the right to a jury trial to determine his guilt or innocence.
