CODE BLUE: Schenectady County has declared Code Blue in effect from Friday, November 22nd through Monday, November 25th at 7:00 am, as temperatures are forecasted below freezing. View Code Blue Shelters
In average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. Each year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men. Domestic violence occurs across every culture, race, religion, and socio-economic status.
YWCA NorthEastern NY is the area’s leader in domestic violence services and operator of the only domestic violence shelter in Schenectady County. We offer a 24-hour hotline, safe shelter, counseling, advocacy, groups, case management, children’s services, and post-shelter services to those who experience domestic violence.
During the month of October, we offer additional events to raise awareness and support for domestic violence. We would love for you to take in fighting back against injustice by joining us at one of our events.
This event is free and open to the public! A Birthday Party was chosen to illustrate the intersection of identity, culture, and the preservation of cultural norms while addressing dominant culture's effects on tradition. YWCA NENY hopes that participants walk away with a perspective that enhances their cultural lens and antagonizes monolithic thought. The goal is to provide a multidimensional lens to a global perspective that allows for thought-provoking conversation and leads to true allyship. Tickets can be reserved here.
