Schenectady County Seeks Poll Workers for Upcoming Primary and General Elections

Schenectady County Board of Elections Update

The Schenectady County Board of Elections (SCBOE) is seeking registered voters to serve as poll workers during the upcoming primary and general elections. Poll workers are needed for Primary Day on Tuesday, June 28 and Election Day on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

Poll workers are responsible for performing a variety of tasks, including signing in voters, directing voters to their correct polling place, assisting voters that may need help voting and documenting information on appropriate forms. Bilingual individuals, speaking fluent English and Spanish, are also needed and encouraged to apply.

“Poll workers play a key role in the Election process, helping to ensure ballots are handled in the proper manner and that all voters have a good experience,” said Board of Elections Commissioners Amy Hild and Darlene Harris. “Schenectady County voters who would like to serve their community in this role should reach out to our staff as soon as possible.”

Poll workers can earn $250 for working on Primary or Election Day (5am-9:30pm) and $40 for training.

Requirements to be a Schenectady County poll worker:

  • At least 18 years old;
  • Registered voter in Schenectady County;
  • Proficiency in English – Bilingual workers also needed; and
  • Willing to serve the voting public.
