The Schenectady County Legislature hosted a ceremony outside the County Office Building to honor 10 emergency responders throughout the County.
EMS awardees were nominated by their organization and voted on by the Schenectady County EMS Council, which is tasked with advising the County on EMS issues.
Firefighter awardees were nominated by their respective departments and voted on by senior members of the Schenectady County Fire and EMS Coordinator’s office.
“Firefighters and emergency responders are at the front lines when it comes to helping families during some of their worst moments,” said Schenectady County Legislator Tom Constantine, Chair of the Public Safety & Firefighting Committee. “We’d like to thank the award winners, and all of the emergency responders throughout the County, for their dedication to our community during the pandemic and beyond.”

Ashley Schnore – ALS Provider, Schenectady Fire Department
Edward Marchand – EMS Educator of Excellence, Mohawk Ambulance
Dr. Axel Hermansdoerfer – Physician of Excellence, Retired
David Massaro – Harriet C. Weber EMS Leadership Award, Schenectady Fire Department
Liam Hilt – COVID-19 Response Award, Glenville Hill Fire Department
Aidan Enders – Youth Provider of the Year, Duanesburg Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
John Courter – EMS Communication Specialist, Schenectady County Unified Communications Center
James Jones – Line Officer of the Year, Village of Scotia Fire Department
Michael Luft – Chief Officer of the Year, Niskayuna Fire District 1
John Crowther – Fire Fighter of the Year, Rotterdam Volunteer Fire Company of District #2
