Over 1,000 Moderna Vaccine Appointments Available for NYS Residents 18+

Schenectady County will hold two COVID-19 Moderna vaccine PODs (point of dispensing) next week on Tuesday, April 13 and Thursday, April 15, 2021 at SUNY Schenectady. Approximately 500 appointments are available each day. Residents can sign up online at www.schenectadycounty.com.

Moderna vaccines are currently approved for 18+ by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Individuals who receive a vaccine at the POD will be signed up during their appointment for their second dose at SUNY Schenectady 28 days later.

“We are thrilled to be able to vaccinate more county residents each week as our supply slowly increases,” said Schenectady County Legislator Sara Mae Pratt, Vice-Chair of the Committee on Health & Human Services. “Next week we have over 1,000 Moderna appointments available right here in our community for anyone 18 or older. If you haven’t been vaccinated yet we encourage you to sign up for an appointment on our website. If you aren’t able to schedule an appointment next week keep checking our website for future PODs here in Schenectady County, or visit the state’s website for other vaccination opportunities.”

Earlier this week Schenectady County administered its 10,000th first-dose vaccine at the County’s SUNY Schenectady POD (point of dispensing). Schenectady County has primarily administered vaccines at its main POD site, SUNY Schenectady (formerly held at the Karen B. Johnson/Central Branch Library) and has administered over a thousand vaccines at neighborhood-based PODs hosted by local churches and community centers to increase accessibility.
