Over 100 Meals Delivered to Local Families
A coalition of Schenectady County emergency responders, along with members of the Schenectady County Legislature, delivered Thanksgiving food baskets for Concerned for the Hungry’s 41st annual Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive. In total, Concerned for the Hungry will provide food boxes to 2,800 families this year, which will help feed nearly 10,000 people for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Members of the Schenectady County Legislature, Office of the Schenectady County Sheriff, Schenectady Police Department, Schenectady Fire Department, Niskayuna Police Department and the Rotterdam Police Department delivered over 100 meals to members of the community.
"Today concludes the 41st Annual Concerned for the Hungry Thanksgiving Program,” said Larry Lewis from Concerned for the Hungry Inc. “2020 was the most trying year, but the community pulled together to make it happen. Special thanks go to Schenectady County and all the emergency responders that helped to deliver our food baskets to home-bound clients."
“When Concerned for the Hungry put out a call for help, Schenectady County answered,” said Schenectady County Legislator Philip Fields. “We helped assemble a coalition of emergency responders from all over the county to make sure these meals would be delivered to those most in need this holiday season.”
“Congratulations to the Concerned for the Hungry and their 41st annual Thanksgiving food basket drive,” said Undersheriff James Barrett. “The Schenectady County Sheriff’s office is pleased to support and assist the coalition with the distribution of Thanksgiving food baskets to the residents in our community that are most in need at this time of year. Happy and healthy holiday season to all.”
“The Schenectady Police Department is proud to partner with Concerned For The Hungry and agencies throughout Schenectady County to help ensure that everyone has access to good food this Thanksgiving,” said Ryan Macherone, Schenectady Police Department Lieutenant of Neighborhood Engagement/Community Services. “Though this year has kept many of us apart, we look forward to helping spread happiness throughout our community this Monday as we deliver meals to friends, neighbors and loved ones throughout the city.”
