Schenectady County Opens Registration for Run the Runway 5K at Airport

Discount Available for Active Military, Retirees, and Veterans

Schenectady County announced registration is open for Run the Runway, a 5K race to be held at the Schenectady County Airport on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. The event will also feature a one-mile fun run for kids. Active military, retirees and veterans will receive a discount on their registration fee. All sections of the run will be on taxiways and runways that have been resurfaced in the last few years.

“We’re thrilled to host our Run the Runway 5K race at the Schenectady County Airport once again this year,” said Gary Hughes, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature. “This event offers a unique opportunity to run on the newly resurfaced taxiways and runways of our airport, while also bringing our community together for a day of fun and fitness.”

The event will take place at the The Empire State Aerosciences Museum (ESAM) at the Schenectady County Airport, 250 Rudy Chase Drive, Glenville, on Saturday, September 14, 2024. The 5K will step off at 9:00 a.m. with the 1-mile fun run for kids beginning at approximately 10:00 a.m. Registration is $35 for the 5K, with active military, retirees, and veterans receiving a discount. Children 12 years and younger may participate in the fun run for FREE.
