Schenectady County Public Health Services (SCPHS) is hosting two free naloxone training and information sessions for community members on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 in Schenectady.
SCPHS is hosting a series of in-person trainings and information sessions throughout 2025 to empower community members with the knowledge and skills to address opioid overdose effectively. These sessions provide valuable education on recognizing the signs of overdose, preventative measures, and the administration of Naloxone, equipping attendees with life-saving techniques and access to essential resources in combating opioid-related emergencies. Participants will receive a free naloxone kit and fentanyl/xylazine test strips upon completion of the training.
“Training to recognize the signs of an overdose and how to respond is crucial in saving lives,” said Schenectady County Legislator Omar McGill, Vice Chair of the Health, Housing & Human Services Committee. “Learning these skills can help community members be better prepared to act in emergencies when every second counts.”
