Friends of Schenectady County Child Advocacy Center Hosts Fundraiser and “Paint the Town Blue” Campaign in Honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time when communities across the nation come together to raise awareness, promote prevention efforts, and support the well-being of children. This year’s theme, “Powered by Hope, Strengthened by Prevention,” emphasizes the role of community support and proactive efforts in keeping children safe.

In recognition of this important month, the Friends of Schenectady County Child Advocacy Center is launching a community-wide awareness campaign, “Paint the Town Blue.” Throughout April, local residents and businesses are encouraged to wear blue, display blue ribbons, and share messages of hope and prevention in support of children and families affected by abuse and neglect.

As a culminating event for the month, the Friends of the SCCAC will host a fundraiser on Friday, April 25 from 6 to 8 PM at Frog Alley Brewing Co., 108 State Street, Schenectady. The evening will feature food, drinks, music, raffles, and stories of impact to benefit the vital services provided by the Schenectady County Child Advocacy Center.

“Our mission is rooted in hope, healing, and protection,” said Arnie Rotenberg, President of the Friends of SCCAC. “By coming together as a community and painting the town blue, we send a strong message that every child deserves to grow up safe, supported, and loved.”

Funds raised will go toward enhancing services for children and families impacted by abuse, including advocacy, counseling, forensic interviews, and community education.
