Maria Apruzzese
Assistant District Attorney
Special Victims Unit
Ms. Apruzzese joined the DA’s Office in 2017. She began her service in the City Court Bureau where she prosecuted all types of misdemeanor level cases. In 2020, Apruzzese joined the SVU and completed the first jury trial held during the Covid pandemic, convicting an individual on charges of Criminal Contempt. Apruzzese is a member of the High-Risk Team established to respond to sexual assault cases in a collective manner to bring resources together.
Apruzzese attended Union College, graduating cum laude, with a degree in Sociology and a Minor in Spanish in 2014. She earned her JD from University of Buffalo in 2017.
Ritchie Assini

Ms. Assini attended and graduated cum laude from Johns Hopkins University with a major in Sociology and a Minor in Marketing and Communications in 2016. She received her Master of Legal Studies from Northeastern University, School of Law summa cum laude in 2019. Assini earned her JD from Vermont Law School cum laude in 2022. Assini joined the DA’s Office in 2023 in the City/Local Court Bureau.
Jennifer Marindin Assini

Jennifer Marindin Assini is currently the Chief Assistant District Attorney in Schenectady County. Assini has served as an Assistant District Attorney for 29 years. For ten years, she served as the Bureau Chief of Investigations & Intelligence where she handled complex investigations into violent gang activity, financial crimes and homicides. And since 2011, she has been cross-designated as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District of NY, working as a member of the FBI-led Safe Streets Gang Task Force to combat violent actors and street groups or gangs. Eric Bisaillon

Mr. Bisaillon graduated cum laude from University at Albany with a degree in Business Administration in 2015. He earned his JD from Albany Law School in 2019. Eric joined the Schenectady County DA’s Office in 2023 in the County Court Bureau. He worked as an ADA in Albany County for over two years in the Local Courts Bureau.
Amy Burock

Amy Burock grew up in Guilderland, New York. She graduated summa cum laudefrom Hartwick College in 1995 with a BA and earned her JD at Albany Law School where she graduatedcum laude with an honor’s concentration in Criminal Law in 1999. Burock was admitted to the bar in January 2000. Immediately after law school Ms. Burock completed a one-year appointment as an Appellate Court Attorney at the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division, Third Department. After completing her judicial clerkship, Burock began her career as a prosecutor at the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office. She came to work for the Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office in 2001. She has been Chief of the Major Crimes Unit since 2006 and has completed more than 50 felony jury trials. Ms. Burock is grateful to do such interesting work and is honored to serve the community.
Robert M. Carney
District Attorney
Robert M. Carney has been the Schenectady County District Attorney since January of 1990, having been first elected in November of 1989. He is now in his 32nd year of continuous service in that position, having been re-elected eight times. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the District Attorney's Association of the State of New York and served as President from 2000 to 2001 and Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2001 to 2002. John Carson

Special Victims Unit, Bureau Chief
John Carson joined the DA’s Office in 2013 immediately after being admitted to the bar. He began in the City Court Bureau prosecuting misdemeanor level crimes. In 2015, joined the SVU where he began prosecuting sex crimes and child abuse. In 2020, Carson was named Bureau Chief of the SVU, and currently oversees the unit as well as the Child Advocacy Center and supervises several Albany Law School interns through the Albany Domestic Violence Prosecution Hybrid Clinic.
Carson graduated summa cum laude from the College of St. Rose in 2010 with a degree in History. He earned his JD from Albany Law School in 2013. Carson was awarded the Young Lawyer Award in 2019 by the Schenectady County Bar Association for distinguished performance. He is a member of the DAASNY Subcommittee on Special Victims and Domestic Violence as well as the Animal Crimes Subcommittee.
Michael DeMatteo

Mr. DeMatteo attended State University of Albany, graduating in 2004 with a major in Environmental Science. He attended Western New England College of Law and graduated in 2009 with his JD. Mike joined the office in 2009. In 2011, Mike joined the Grand Jury Unit. In 2017, Mike was promoted to City and Local Courts Bureau Chief and is the designated prosecutor of arson cases. He led the prosecution of those indicted in the Jay Street fire that took four lives in 2015 and secured the first arson for profit conviction after trial in Schenectady County.

Mr. Faucher attended SUNY Plattsburgh and graduated, summa cum laude, with a BA in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology and Sociology in 2013. He earned his JD from Albany Law School, magna cum laude, in 2016. He joined the Schenectady County DA's Office in 2021 in the City Court Bureau and subsequently moved to the County Court Bureau. Prior to joining the DA's Office, Faucher was in private practice in Albany, NY. He served in the U.S. Army for 5 years in the 101st Airborne, rising to the rank of Sergeant.

Mr. Gorman attended State University of New York College at Geneseo and graduated in 2016 with a Philosophy major. He earned his JD in 2019 from George Washington University Law School. While there, he participated in the GWinNY Program that had a semester in residence in NYC with a Focus on Business Law and Writing. Prior to completing his schooling, Gorman served in the U.S. Airforce for four years as an avionics technician. He joined the Schenectady County DA’s Office in the City/Local Court Bureau in 2021.

Ms. Lambert graduated from Union College in 2018 with a major in Neuroscience and minors in Anthropology and Political Science. She received her JD cum laude from Albany Law School in 2021. She joined the Schenectady County DA’s Office in 2022 after working in the Bronx DA’s Office as an Assistant DA for one year.
William Lemon

William Lemon is the Assistant District Attorney tasked with CARP prosecution. He received a dual degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies from Hamilton College in 2008 and his law degree from New York Law School in 2014. Before and during law school, Lemon worked in the financial services industry in various capacities. Since graduating from law school and prior to joining the DA’s Office in 2019, he practiced in New York City and Albany representing businesses and individuals in connection with, among other things, white collar criminal investigations and prosecutions.
Jessica Lorusso

ADA Lorusso graduated from the Appalachian State University in Boone, NC with a major in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology. She graduated cum laude from Albany Law School in 2001 with an honors concentration in Criminal Law. After graduating she worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Warren County from 2002-2005 where she handled local criminal court cases and all felony appeals. In 2005, she joined the Schenectady County District Attorney's Office first as the DWI prosecutor. She then worked as a member of the Special Victims Unit between 2007-2015 where she handled child and adult sexual abuse cases, domestic violence cases and animal cruelty cases. Lorusso successfully tried to verdict numerous rape and domestic violence cases. In 2015, she transferred to the Grand Jury Bureau and has prosecuted serious assaults, robberies, burglaries and narcotics cases. In 2020, ADA Lorusso became Bureau Chief of the Grand Jury Bureau where she continues to handle felony cases as well as supervises the members of that unit.
Nicolaus McDonald

McDonald graduated from Ithaca College in 2010 with a major in Philosophy and a minor in Writing. He earned his JD from Albany Law School in 2014. During law school, he was an intern in the DA’s Office and then joined the office after graduation. McDonald first worked in the City Court Unit prosecuting misdemeanors, and then prosecuted DWI cases for the office. He joined the Grand Jury Unit in 2016 where he handled all types of felony cases from GJ presentation through trial. He is now assigned to both the Homicide and Major Crimes Bureaus to handle some of the most serious cases. McDonald, a lifelong Schenectadian, has been a member of the board of the Schenectady City Industrial Development Agency, since 2020.

Marlena Mareno joined the DA’s Office in 2021, immediately after graduating from law school. She begins in the City/Local Court Bureau. Mareno was an intern with the Schenectady County DA's Office through Albany Law School. Mareno graduated from Siena College in 2018, summa cum laude, with a BA in Political Science and a Minor in Management. She attended Albany Law School and earned her JD in 2021.
Emma Moskowitz

Ms. Moskowitz graduated Champlain College Summa Cum Laude with a major in Law and a minor in Global Studies. She attended Albany Law School and graduated as a Pro Bono Scholar in 2021. She joined the Schenectady County DA's office in the City/Local Court Bureau in 2022. Prior to joining the DA's Office, Ms. Moskowitz worked at the Albany County DA’s Office in its Local Courts Bureau.
Philip Mueller
Assistant Counsel to the District Attorney
Mr. Mueller joined the office as an Assistant District Attorney in 1990 and served continuously as a prosecutor until his retirement in 2016. He is a graduate of Union College and Cornell Law School where he was Editor in Chief of the Cornell Law Review. During his career, Mueller tried 44 felony trials, 25 of them murder cases, and was honored by the New York State Prosecutors Training Institute as their trial lawyer of the year in 2004 and by the New York State District Attorney's Association with the Morgenthau Award in 2010. He was the principal author of "Do the Right Thing," a manual on prosecutorial ethics given to every Assistant District Attorney in New York State. Mr. Mueller retains a part-time position as an Assistant Counsel to the District Attorney.
Eamonn Neary

Eamonn Neary graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh in 2005 with a major in Political Science, concentration in Law/Public Policy. In 2009, he earned his JD from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in Detroit, MI. During the summer of 2008, Neary attended the Trinity College School of Law in Dublin, Ireland for one month and the Charles University School of Law in Prague, Czech Republic, for one month, where he studied Comparative Law and International Legal Research. Neary worked as an Assistant DA in the Sullivan County DA’s Office from 2011 to 2016. Then in 2016, he joined the Schenectady County DA’s Office as the CARP Prosecutor helping the office prosecute crimes against the resources of the state. He moved into the GJ Unit in 2018 and has been called upon to handle all types of felony cases. Prior to entering public service, Neary worked for one year as an associate in private practice in Albany, NY.

Mr. Nobles joined the office in 2015. He currently serves as a member of the Homicide Bureau, Special Victims Unit, and Major Crimes Bureau. He handles a wide range of cases involving charges related to homicide, sexual assault, illegal guns, shootings, domestic violence, and crimes against children. Mike was raised in Phoenix, New York. He received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science at SUNY Geneseo in 2012 and his JD at the University of Buffalo in 2015.

Mr. Riggi is a part-time Assistant District Attorney who is the longest serving prosecutor in the office, having worked continuously in that capacity since 1989. He is a graduate of Union College and University of Brockport Law School. He is responsible for prosecutions in the Village of Scotia Court and the Glenville Town Court.

Prior to joining the DA’s Office, Weinhold was in private practice with the Albany firm of Whiteman, Osterman and Hanna, LLP and completed a one-year internship with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District, NY.

Mrs. Casey has joined the Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office as the Director of the Schenectady Child Advocacy Center.Her legal career has been child-focused and she brings special experience to the position.She served as an Assistant District Attorney for Schenectady County from 2001 – 2005 following two years of private practice in Glens Falls.Just prior to joining the office, Casey had served as an Attorney for the Child with the Schenectady County Panel of Attorneys for Children for nine years.She graduated cum laude from Union College in 1996 with a major in English and a minor in Art History.Casey earned her JD from Albany Law School in 1999.
